Heads up hopeless romantics, this Friday we have a movie for you. It's called BELLFLOWER, and if you paid attention to our blog a couple of months ago, it's the film that Tim League has been raving about since he first caught it at Sundance.
BELLFLOWER follows two late-twenty-somethings, Woodrow (played by writer/director Evan Glodell) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson), who live in a less-than-safe-neighborhood in a world where nobody has to work - Never-Never Land for the baby boom generation. They spend their time drinking heavy amounts of alcohol and building flamethrowers and MAD MAX-inspired cars just in case a global apocalypse happens. During a night of binge drinking at a local bar, Woodrow meets the rebellious Milly (Jessie Wiseman). They soon embark on a short lived romance, but this is not a love story. In fact, this is a tale of violent revenge.
A lot of cinematic love went into the making of this film. Evan Glodell not only wrote, directed, starred, produced, and edited BELLFLOWER, but he also built the cars (including the epic Mother Medusa - featured in the teaser trailer), the flame thrower, and one-of-a-kind camera to shoot the film with. The camera is incredible, and you can read more about it on their website.
If I haven’t already convinced you to rev up your engine Friday and head the Drafthouse, maybe this will: we’re giving away tickets to the premiere. If you wanna get your hands on a pair, follow @FantasticFest on twitter where we’ll be doing a giveaway very soon.
